span style=”font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;”>Accessories are not only used to give some personal touch to luxurious vehicles. Nowadays, there are a lot of truck accessories on the market that you can place on your favorite street machine- your truck. These accessories for pickups can enhance the visual appearance of your auto and some products can even add functionality. As a matter of fact, the use of truck add-ons has supported pickups to go beyond their primary performance and functionality. So, the ordinary utility vehicle, which is designed to haul loads and construction materials is now becoming a famous ride for daily commute and a choice for 4×4 escapade.

The market of truck accessories is certainly huge, making it sometimes complex where to start. There are plenty of choices available when you choose and buy accessories and parts for your rig, not only from your local dealer but also on the World Wide Web. In general, the idea of customizing and improving the appearance of your rig is really fun. You must identify first the things that really need some development before searching for added accessories. Remember that accessorizing your vehicle can be simple or as complicated as you make it. There are interior accessories and exterior accessories that you can place to your ride.

Interior accessories are primarily made to give comfort and security to you as the driver and your passengers also. Moreover, there are products that can enhance the inside of your vehicle, giving a wonderful ambiance for a relaxing and stress-free ride. Examples of primary interior accessories are replacement carpets, cargo trays, mats, floor liners, cup holders, dash covers and seat covers that can help you keep your truck neat and ordered. And the accessories that give hi-tech features for your convenience and safety are GPS navigation systems, portable freezers, security consoles as well as speedos and gauges.

Alternatively, placing exterior accessories is one of the most famous and effective ways for you to express your personal preference and style when it comes to your precious automobile. These add-ons will give your truck a new level of appeal that can guarantee turn heads while cruising on the street. Also, there are supplementary products that can give extra functionality to your rig like tonneau covers, roof racks, headache racks, cargo management systems and truck bed rails. Other accessories that offer comfort and protection include fender flares, nerf bars or running boards, bumpers, grille guards, hood shields and winches.

When searching for aftermarket and sensible truck accessories, it is always great to consider first the functional value before the outer appearance. In this way, you can get the best value for your budget without completely compromising the outer form of your truck. After all, majority of accessories for trucks are designed to look good and give added functionality. Enhancing your auto with the hottest accessories will give it a personal feel and say a little about your character.

And the most trouble-free way to shop for accessories is to go to your local auto shops. However if you want to save time by not driving down to different stores in your locality, surf the internet and search for online auto stores. This method will offer you a huge range of products that will give you an idea of what is best and at what rates. You can also compare the prices of numerous shops and have the best transactions.

With customizing your truck, there is actually no limit to what you can decide to do. It mostly depends on your lifestyle, particular needs and budget, too. Besides, you accessorize your rig to give it the appearance and features you want.

It all depends on how much you want to spend and what type of cover you want.

For a basic option, I would recommend going to a place like Wal-Mart or the local parts store and getting cover which the seat style on the box matches your van’s style. This is the cheapest option too.

If you want an extermely durable product, Wet Okole is one of the best. It’s made of a neoprene fabric that is highly resistant – it is also a custom fit and I believe they can make pretty much anything. The catch is they aren’t cheap. Try them out here: http://wetokole.net/page/WOH/PROD/TOY/TOYF

In the middle of the price range, you are going to have a difficult time finding a custom fit seat cover. There just simply isn’t a high enough demand in the marketplace to keep making seat covers for an 80’s Toyota van (sorry).

But… you may want to take a close look at the seats in your van and the seats in other Toyotas – particularily a similar year 4Runner or Pick-up. There is a decent change that the seats are similar (or maybe even the same), Time to peek into some windows at the local shopping mall! If they look the same, order some for the vehicle and go for it!

Last option – upholstery shop. They can make just about anything… for a price. Sometimes upholstery shops that specialize boats can do the same a bit cheaper though.

all i need is the bottom piece. does anyone know of any websites that i can check out? thanks!

We do seat covers for all F-150 seats, no matter what the year. Anything on our site is available.

These are covers meant to go on over the existing seats. If your looking for replacement upholstery, your best bet is to check your local listings for Automotive Upholstery. That is where they will replace the actual seat surface. Hope this helps.

I want to get some cute punky girly pink type seat covers in my car. I look on ebay and the only thing I can find is either Hello Kitty, or anything that I find that I like says its for a certain type of car. Like a honda accord or something. Do I have to buy specifically grand am seat covers? the ones from wal-mart fit!

also- know a good place to find cutesy seat covers?

The only time that you’ll really have to pay attention to the build style of the seat covers, is if your car has side impact air bags (often mounted in the side of the seats). Any seatcovers that you’d install will have to have special break-away fabric/threads in the appropriate location of the side airbags, so that the airbags can deploy correctly in the event of an accident.

Otherwise, it’s up to you to decide if you want to try seat covers that are built for a different type of vehicle. If they’re not listed as generic/universal fit but for a specific car/custom, that probably means that they may be made in the correct proportions for the curvature/size of the seat in that specific car, and may not fit appropriately into your Grand Am.

Have you tried asking on a Grand Am forum for suggestions?

As I haven’t purchased from any of the retailers that Google found for pink car seat covers, I do not think that it is appropriate that I suggest them to you (since I don’t know how well any of them do on service). Strange that so many of them are in the UK. Pink hawaiian seems pretty common, as does pink camo, hello kitty, and pink on black racing styles.

I am not afraid to get my hands dirty but I don’t have a clue where to begin. The speakers are top mounted and there is a carpeted panel covering over them. In order to change them I have to remove this. I hear people say take out the back seat but where the heck does I start. For those unfamiliar with the 97 Plymouth breeze it is basically the same thing as a 97 dodge stratus. If I do get them out can I remount them underneath so I can avoid this if I ever need to change them again?

Start at the very bottom seat cushion; you should be able to push backwards on the front of the seat and unhook it on each side to remove it. With the seat bottom out of the way, you can see the large bolts holding in the bottom part of the seat back; you might need a large torx bit to remove these. After the bolts are removed you need to lift straight up on the seat back to unhook the top and remove it. Then you can get to the clips that hold down the rear deck cover.

You can bottom-mount the new speakers provided they’re equipped with a front gasket to keep the cone clear of the deck metal. Most are, some aren’t.

Please humor my idea for a moment. I had this idea for an eco-friendly car. Its basically the Ford Fusion only with solar panels covering the car with the fusion generator that is already currently built into it (instead of using gas as a kickstart). The vehicle would gain solar power while the vehicle is parked which juices the battery. As you drive down the road, both axles turn, the gears turn for the generator (fusion) storing energy so the car maintains a solid energy source that can be manually toggled between solar and fusion power usage. I’m not an engineer, but I think at least some part of my idea could be used in creating an eco-friendly, sleek and very cool looking car (5 speed manual, 2 door, seats 4 adults, reflective silver or scratch resistant mirror-like material with black racing strips, the solar panels are built into the racing strips so that it blends into the design, limited power/automatic features so that the battery is not drained too much, vehicle uses 6 car batteries and 2 generators ). A second option is that we could simply buy the same alternative energy hybrid or fuel cell
vehicles that are used currently in the UK.

Something to think about:

Wow, 3 days and no answer. I guess no one reads this section and no one cares about using alternative energy for their vehicles. God help us all when we run out of oil. I guess we will just kill each other while fighting over gas and charge $100 per gallon of gas 20 years from now, so be it.

Solar panels make energy so slowly that your idea won’t work well. I believe you need to get into "the numbers" yourself. You don’t need to be a licensed engineer. "Build your own Electric Vehicle", a book by Seth Leitman and Bob Brant, 2009, is very readable even as it goes through many of the numbers you need. It doesn’t cover solar well so you’ll have to find a simple source describing how much power you’re really going to get.

What I found, when I looked at the idea of solar cars, was that a normal weight/size car was going to require 10,000 watts at normal speeds. Drive it for an hour and that 10,000 "watt-hours" or "10 kilowatt hours". Cars aren’t very big and the solar panels of that size will take a few days to replenish what you just expended. I discussed my disappointment on this with my cousin who’s been involved with the MIT solar car; he said "put the panels on your house"!

BTW, the MIT solar car is far from normal in many respects. The typical american driver wouldn’t even consider it a car. The MIT students are given cutting edge components by companies which want to help MIT. There’s no drive to make something remotely cost effective.

You’re not alone in your desires to find alternatives to gas-powered cars. Check out the EAA (www.eeaev.org), a group of people who convert ‘normal’ cars to electric; they certainly ‘know the numbers’.

Your idea of having 2 motors has been proposed by some. And the new EVs (Electric Vehicles) are designed with "direct drive" where a lot of the traditional gear train is omitted.

As for the few answers, realize that your question carried a lot of reading requests; many people probably didn’t want to spend the time to look at it all.

I’m interested in purchasing two black car seat covers for my 2006 Toyota Corolla LE and putting this image on it: http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m14/synth_freak/psyclonnine_ogo.gif
If anyone knows a good website for designing an appropriate car seat cover, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

best bet is to buy one from wal-mart and finding an embroidery shop or screan printing shop to put it on there for you.

I have a tear in my Graco car seat cover and need to purchase a new one… does anyone know how or where?? I am having no luck!

First find your model number and manufacturers date located at the bottom or back or your carseat then visit Gracobaby.com and enter the information that you have and this way you should be able to replace your torn padding.
