Hey y’all. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find free instructions to make a homemade dashcover. My car is a little Toyota Corola so it should be easy enough. I’m already in the process of making homemade car seat covers and they are the cutest!! Anywho, I know you will have the answers. So THANX in advance!!! :> Luv, GLOBUG
You need a pattern.
Cut a length of muslin and drape it over your dashboard. Using a pen, mark the edges. Cut out the shape & carefully put the muslin back on the dash for a "fitting". If it fits, Place the sheet of muslin on a large piece of paper and trace your pattern.
Select your fabric, using your pattern, cut the dashboard cover. If you make it with more than two layers, tack the layers together and finish 5he outside edge with purchased seam binding. Unless you made your own binding with bias strips.

Well, you could buy one from an auto parts store. Make sure its not a special order otherwise you’ll have a restocking fee. Take it home, trace the pattern out on a large piece of paper (tape pieces together of you have to) and then take the original back for a refund.
Go to a fabric store and pick out the material that you want to use, buy some very thin padding that’s flexible. Based on traced outline, cut 2 sections about 1" larger than the traced object. Turn them inside out and sew them together. I might even think about putting a zipper on the back side to make it easier to get it on and off of the padding. Lay it on your dash and see how it fits.
Hope that helps.
